Treatment of Scoliosis in Rogers AR

spine

Scoliosis is more than presentation and pain. These are symptoms. In order to get rid of the symptoms of scoliosis it is vital that the scoliosis itself is managed. We use a conservative method of scoliosis correction without the use of embarrassing orthopedic braces or invasive and permanent surgery.

Why is our treatment different?

Typical chiropractic adjustments have been proven to be effective in reducing the symptoms, but ineffective in actually reducing the severity of the curve. This is because the adjustment by itself is only a force and does not address the muscles & ligaments. Our scoliosis correction program incorporates advanced soft tissue rehabilitation techniques in the treatment protocols, to achieve structural changes to the spine that will allow the body to de-rotate and correct itself. We also use specific and reproducible precision x-rays that are analyzed according to the exact guidelines to measure and quantify the change.

traction bed In order for the chiropractic adjustment to be most effective, the patient needs to warm up their spine. These procedures are required in order to make the necessary structural changes to the spine. The wobble chair increases the range of motion in your spine by stretching out muscles and ligaments of the spine. The Vibrating Traction softens ligament tissue while breaking up scar tissue. Cervical traction applies gentle traction to rehabilitate the neck. The Eckard table is a motorized table that uses straps and ratchets to change ligament and disc material to change the structure of the spine. Just like you stretch and warm up before a workout, in order to making the reductions to a progressive scoliosis the spine needs to be warmed up.

Precise adjustments are applied to the spine using specific adjusting tools and drop pieces to changes to the structure of the spine. The adjusting equipment use both specific and modifiable forces into the spine to make the necessary changes. Precision X-rays are used to collect the necessary data to modify adjusting protocols based on each patient’s spine. Correcting the biomechanics of the spine is necessary in order to make lasting changes to the spine.

The body must now re-educate itself with the new changes that were made. Immediately after being adjusted a modified chair is used. The chair uses a specific vibration frequency to activate receptors in the body to stimulate core muscles to hold the adjustment. A system of belts are used to de-rotate the spine and traction is applied to de-compress the spine. Gait therapy using body weighting is necessary to correct postural distortions as well as improving the communication between the body and the brain that is diminished with scoliosis patients.

Finally, whole body vibration amplifies the communication throughout the body. This is very similar to hitting the reset button on your computer. By stimulating the receptors of the body involved in posture, the structural changes made by the doctor's adjustment can be maintained. Stabilization is key in order to make lasting changes.
